About

One life, several paths. Music as the common thread.

Quentin Piepszownik is a French singer-songwriter, composer and guitarist whose musical journey began in childhood.

Childhood

around 7

After early training in music theory and piano, Quentin took up the guitar at twelve, and it quickly became his instrument of choice.

His influences range from Queen, The Beatles, Dire Straits and Metallica to French songwriters such as Serge Gainsbourg and Jean-Jacques Goldman: a musical culture that pays little attention to genre lines.

SWAN

Paris

During his school years in Paris, he co-founded the pop-rock band SWAN with Nicolas Parpex and Lorenzo Benedetti. As lead guitarist and backing vocalist, he contributed to the band’s English-language repertoire, its recordings and its live shows.

SWAN played Paris venues including Le Bataclan, Le Gibus, Le Divan du Monde and La Scène Bastille, caught the attention of the French music press, and is documented in the Rock Made in France archive.

Solo work

2017

From 2017 onwards, Quentin focused on his own songwriting, recording first under the name Klent before choosing to continue under his own name. Trained in sound engineering, he writes, composes, plays and works closely on the sound of his recordings.

Writing in both French and English, he combines melodic songwriting with a fascination for language, emotional contradictions and atmospheric arrangements.

Several paths

Alongside music, Quentin has built a career in architecture and entrepreneurship. He sees these as expressions of one creative instinct: imagining, structuring, experimenting and bringing ideas to life.

Today

DESIDERATA

With DESIDERATA, Quentin Piepszownik continues under his own name, bringing together the many sides of his work: French songwriting, a pop-rock sense of melody, a love of words and a search for atmosphere.

He also writes for other performers and is open to collaborations in music, film and visual storytelling.

On the studio turntable

Influences that ignore genre lines.

From Gainsbourg’s songs to Metallica’s guitars, a musical culture that runs across generations.

  • Serge Gainsbourg The writing, the music of words, the irony, the freedom.
  • Jean-Jacques Goldman Melodic architecture, choruses that bring people together, writing for others.
  • Queen Rich arrangements, Brian May’s guitars, vocal harmonies.
  • The Beatles Melody and popular songwriting that never gives up on invention.
  • Metallica Guitar energy, dynamic contrast, precision.
  • Mano Negra Freedom of tone, mixed influences, spontaneity.
  • The Smashing Pumpkins A kinship of timbre with Billy Corgan: a high, recognisable voice.
  • Dire Straits Mark Knopfler’s playing: musicality and elegance on guitar.
